Anti- Smoking Campaign

" NO TO SMOKING"

Smoking is a practice in which a substance is burned and the resulting smoke breathed in to be tasted and absorbed into the bloodstream. Most commonly the substance is the dried leaves of the tobacco plant which have been rolled into a small square of rice paper to create a small, round cylinder called a "cigarette". Smoking is primarily practiced as a route of administration for recreational drug use because the combustion of the dried plant leaves vaporizes and delivers active substances into the lungs where they are rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream and reach bodily tissue.

An Anti Smoking Campaign seminar was held last October 21, 2015 at Asia Pacific college with Engr. Emer Rojas who undergoes Laryngectomy. Laryngectomy is the removal of the larynx and separation of the airway from the mouth, nose and esophagus. In a total laryngectomy the entire larynx is removed and in a partial laryngectomy only a portion is taken out. The laryngectomee breathes through an opening in the neck known as a stoma. He shares to us his past experiences and explained to the students what are the consequences of smoking. A stick of cigarette contains more than 4000 chemical compounds. Approximately, there are 7.6 millions deaths worldwide caused by smoking. So I were you , I will stop smoking before you experience having or undergoing laryngectomy. There's a law which is connected on this topic The Sin tax Law RA. 10351.
